ComedyBox is a new online video venture from Warner Music Group, containing sketches, classic clips, and stand up routines from an impressive line up of comic talent.

Warner Music Group has commissioned content for the site from several comedians, including Vic Reeves, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Fry, though not all of this content is available right now.

Comedybox is the idea of John Lloyd, the former producer of Blackadder, and will feature a series of weekly comedy shows, new and old stand up routines, sketches, animation and a range of archive material.

The site works like most other video sites, and has a nice clean look to it. Videos can be searched for by type, or you can go through the list of featured comedians / shows to find what you want. Solid execution from Warner.

I’ve only seen a preview version of the site so far, but the range of content promised should make it a worthwhile destination for UK comedy fans.

The site is due to launch today, with a mobile version of the website due later in the year.
