Job Description
As part of Dyson’s London-based PR team and reporting into the Head of PR, this role will help manage Dyson’s social media and PR activity globally.
The bulk of this person’s role will be overseeing social media. For this they will: set strategy and support the execution for all launches, devise and implement stand-alone campaigns, make sure social media is integrated in to all activity (digital, CRM, PR and James Dyson Foundation) and provide direction to the customer care teams for social media.
They will also develop and lead a wide variety of PR projects including media and consumer events, product launches, copywriting, press trips, public awareness campaigns and production of graphic material.
The PR Manager role is instrumental in converting Dyson’s communications strategy into action. You’ll help ensure that Dyson’s PR and social media activity is globally consistent, different and inspiring.
OVERALL AIMS
To increase understanding of Dyson technology globally via extensive coverage across all media – print, broadcast and online. And to use social media to capture and grow people’s enthusiasm and loyalty towards Dyson.
TEAM ENVIRONMENT
Part of a London-based team; this person will be the central co-ordinator for social media, meaning that they’ll work closely with people in the digital/online, marketing and customer care teams. They will also help lead Group PR and liaise with overseas PR teams.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead social media strategy across key markets: UK, US, France, Germany and Japan. Plan campaigns, set objectives and support markets in achieving their goals. Monitor and manage non-key markets
• Support the James Dyson Foundation in using social media to achieve the charity’s objectives globally.
• Make sure that social media is integrated across the company: PR, digital, CRM.
• Oversee all social media interaction by PR & customer care teams – listen (always), advise (always) and personally input (when necessary)
• Manage and grow Dyson’s social media entities on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter
• Personally oversee Dyson PR activity in 2-3 markets
• Plan PR campaigns, press launches and media outreach with respective markets – and oversee execution.
• Copywriting (press releases, online content, internal newsletter articles)
• Evaluate: oversee global social media evaluation tool and scrutinise all PR results from the markets
• Communicate to a senior level, working with business directors, CEO and Chairman.
Candidate Requirements
Location: London-based but needs to be needs to be happy to travel to Dyson’s head office in Wiltshire
Experience: Solid understanding and proven interest in traditional media and social media. Some PR, social media or project management experience an advantage.
Qualities: Team player, organised, assertive, resourceful, intuitive, persuasive, intelligent, quick-thinking, personable, clear communicator (spoken & written), excellent personal and business presentation skills
General: Clean driving licence
