For years, video has been a pain in the bottom. Video production companies know it, and they charge handsomely for it.

Increasingly, start-ups are trying to disrupt professional video production, to provide an easy solution for marketers to create their own none-too-shabby work.

Moovd is the latest of these companies, and turns text into animated text videos. Try it yourself, you can make videos in a few seconds (I've been making childish videos all morning).

In one sentence, what is your product/service?

Moovd turns the words you type into an instant kinetic typography (animated text) video.

What problem(s) does it solve?

A high quality animated video takes weeks to make and costs thousands to buy. If you decide to do it yourself, the tools and techniques are almost impossible to learn and master.

But now with Moovd you can type and click an eye-catching, memorable, conversion-optimised animated video for a tiny fraction of the cost, and it can be ready to deploy in a minute.

What are your immediate goals?

To establish our premium product as the go-to short form video content solution for SMBs / SMEs.

What were the biggest challenges involved in building the tech or your team?

The simpler, more powerful, and more useful a web tool, the more complex the tech under the hood.

Our team had to conceptualise, design and build a ton of interconnected moving parts into a seamless, scalable and stable system that’s right at the forefront of server, browser and animation technology.

How will the company make money?

Try and buy. We’ll be charging for video credits with discounts for bulk purchases starting very soon.

Who is in your team?

Our core team is based in Los Angeles. Founder, Simon Gornick, a BBC, ITV, C4 and MTV alum from London, leads a great team that includes former Microsoft exec, Christopher Lohr, along with Alicia Collins, our top notch social media lead.

Tech is in the capable hands of Infoshift Inc, an innovative, imaginative and totally dedicated dev team based in Manila, Philippines.

Where would you like to be in one, three and five years’ time?

In one year, we’re hoping to have an established customer base and revenue stream driven by our core product augmented with more features and pricing options.

In three, we’d like to have traction on our fully integrated enterprise licensing option, and in five, we’ll be very happy to be in growth mode innovating across platforms and business models.

Other than your own, what are your favorite websites / apps / tools?

Google Drive, Asana and Pocket. Simplicity is the key to a great app. We believe in bootstrapped businesses. Build value from the ground up.

Very similar to Vizify's Twitter video creator...

Moovd isn't like Vizify. Vizify draws in your stream and images and creates templated screens from the dataa. Moovd creates a video out of your entered text using a kinetic typography engine.
